After an hour flight to San Jose followed by another hour on a bus, we finally made it to Monterey and we were starving. So, we quickly checked in and called a cab to take us to the wharf so that we could get some hearty Monterey-style clam chowder.
We asked where we would find the best chowder and he said hands down Old Fisherman’s Grotto. Loved by both visitors and locals alike.
There are a lot of restaurants on the wharf that sell clam chowder. So much so that they all have resorted to sample hocking to lure and baiting with the free appetizer card.
We stuck by our cabbie’s recommendation. And even confirmed with Yelp. 800 reviewers can’t be wrong.
It was pretty awesome.
